Baylor president: Rope found in tree on Election Day was a swing, not a noose
:eyes:

WACO, Texas -- A rope found in a Baylor University tree on Election Day was apparently an abandoned swing and not a noose, the school president said Thursday.

Interim president David E. Garland said a student spoke Wednesday to Baylor police, who have been investigating alleged racist incidents on the campus of the world’s largest Baptist university. The student said he and others tried to make a rope swing the night before the election, in which Barack Obama was elected the nation’s first black president.

“The students strongly deny that the rope was intended to mimic a noose or to convey a message of any sort,” Garland said in a statement.

He said a group of students who made the rope swing attended a Wednesday night meeting of student leaders planning a Friday unity march. He said the meeting organizers were glad those students came forward and understood the Nov. 4 incident “as an unfortunate misunderstanding.”

2. And why, pray-tell, would they set up a swing in a tree on Election Day?

You would expect someone from the world of academia to be able to come up with a better banquet of bullshit than this.

3. I believe him!
His story stirs my nostalgia for my light-hearted college days.

Many's the time we'd hang a rope from a high branch, slip the looped end about our necks, and swing back and forth without a care in the world.

if it doesn't look all that much like a noose, well, i still don't believe them, but at least then the explanation isn't as moronic.

15. No, it's a middle-aged bigoted white man's joke.
He's a fucking college President, he's not that stupid. He knows it's a noose. People swing from nooses. So yeah, it is a swing. What a clever little fuck. I hope they string his ass up by his balls for that one.
