2. but she didn't get fired for political reasons
didn't ya hear our Attorney General explain it? And the president wants to maintain the dignity of the white house by not letting anyone get to the bottom of his involvement. What a patriot!

3. Thom Hartmann just read that on his show today.
I posted a clip from the Think Progess article a few minutes ago.

Also, although she didn't mention the TP article, Dianne Feinstein just spoke on the Senate floor and detailed the timeline of this whole mess, and the link with Lam's termination and her notices to the DOJ aboutthe FOGGO & Wilkes indictments.

Ooooo, this is getting really GOOD! I feel like I have to start making a chart though, because it's getting too hard to follow!

5. Of course I have to love the reply from freeper "jake"
"Was the U.S. Attorney fired by Clinton investigating Congress, specifically Dan Rostenkowski?"

You want to start making comparisons between a man who was impeached and this President? Fine by me "jake".

What kind of furniture? Modern or Provincial? Maybe a tasteful Italian Loveseat. :puke:

And the computers? Dell? HP? Apple? IBM? Cray?

Start digging in those file cabinets, Dick, or your whole sordid career is toast.

8. This crowd makes the Nixon and Reagan players look like a bunch of penny ante pikers.
Looks like if you stay in government long enough you learn from your past efforts. Cheney seems to be a common thread through out the years of authoritarian Republican rule. Now who else would be in with that crowd?

9. Holy quid pro quo, batman!
To recap, the White House awarded a one-month, $140,000 contract to an individual who never held a federal contract. Two weeks after he got paid, that same contractor used a cashier’s check for exactly that amount to buy a boat for a now-imprisoned congressman at a price that the congressman had pre-negotiated.

I do believe Cheney may have overplayed his hand.

12. What a coincidence!
A contract for EXACTLY $142 grand goes from Cheney to Wade.

Then, Wade's friend Duke buys a boat for EXACTLY the same amount?

What are the odds?

Weird.

25. Redo of an old joke:
Edited on Tue Mar-20-07 03:01 AM by diane in sf
When you go to hell you end up covered in shit to a depth corresponding to just how bad you've been.

Cheney and Bush are dead and have gone to hell.

Rove dies and when he enters hell he is up to his eyeballs in merde. He sees Bush striding over to meet him, miraculously only ankle deep.

Rove asks, "George, how did you do it, how come you're only ankle deep in doodoo?

George responds: "I'm standing on Cheney's head!"

29. Ok this should be easy to verify, send over a subpoena for a list of furniture DELIVERED to OVP...
A basic duty of Congress is oversight, and making sure contracts are fulfilled by the terms agreed upon is included in that responsibility.

So now we will see if the Democratic Majority in control of Congress will perform this function by simply issuing a subpoena requiring the OVP to produce a manifest or list of furniture and computers ACTUALLY DELIVERED to the OVP, and where that furniture and computers is located today.

This one act could pry open the door on corrupt practices that may have originated INSIDE THE WHITE HOUSE.

At the very least, it is highly suspicious that the contract for the furniture and computers was for the exact same amount as the sales price of the boat, and that it was paid to the admitted briber of Duke Cunningham BEFORE the briber bought the boat for the Duke. Add to that the fact that the briber had never received a government contract before, and it had never engaged in the business of providing office furniture and computers before or after this contract with the OVP.

So now we wait and see who on Capitol Hill really wants to get to the bottom of Cheney's corrupt practices....the gun is loaded, who will pull the trigger?

32. SMOKING GUN!!
Amazing how dumb people will act when they think they're immune from prosecution.
  • The Dukester's bribester, Wade's co. (MZM), gets a $140k contract to provide the Dickster with office equipment & furniture.

  • Two weeks after the end of that contract, the bribester buys the Dukester a yacht for exactly that same amount. (Side note -- has it occurred to anyone just how egregiously greedy it is to have a pleasure boat that costs more than many Americans' houses?)

  • "According to Cunningham’s sentencing memorandum, the purchase price of the boat had been negotiated through a third-party earlier that summer, around the same time the White House contract was signed."

Or maybe it's that there's SO much corruption in this WH that it's inevitable for them to get sloppy at some point.

34. I'm guessing ....
that the stuff was eventually delivered, this was a combination of a "float" plus a sweet deal.

Wade gets paid right way but doesn't have to deliver immediately and then after that still has several months to make good to his supplier. "Computers" .... hmmmm. Top of the line computers depreciate in price very fast. In other words, if you ask me to set you up with top of the line Dells (or the equivalent) and we negotiate a price I stand to gain enormously if I can stall you before making the actual purchase and delivery. A detail I hope gets looked at if the purchase order and delivery manifests ever see the light of the day.
