"Ex-gay evangelist & Christian recording artist rejects 'gay gene' talk"
Holy shit, someone has issues.

=====

"The reason Mohler's blog post drew so much media attention was the premise that the reader could walk away with: if someone is born a certain way, who are we to 'play God' and change nature?

"The FACT is homosexuality – having NO scientific, biological basis whatsoever – IS ALREADY a changeable trait WITHOUT a patch or injection, one that I have personally received 14 years ago: Jesus Christ.

"No matter the future's findings or lack thereof, homosexuality is, was and always will be 'sin' in God's eyes – an immoral, sexually behavior based lifestyle that should and can be changed.

"I agree with Dr. Mohler – all human beings are created in the image of God and deserve respect. However, as long as people like me – former homosexual individuals – exist and testify to God's life changing grace (and there are no doubt numerous men and women all around the world who have abandoned the practice of homosexual behavior), homosexual persons can never escape the REAL truth about their immoral lifestyle.

"Having a different skin color or even being born with a cleft palate is NOT 'behavior based' nor described as 'sinful.' Also, we are not animals like sheep. Animals are exactly that: animals. Animals are not held to God's moral codes or laws - yet mankind IS. Unlike animals, we are precious human beings created in the image of God, ingrained with the moral knowledge of right and wrong written upon our hearts. It's called our conscience.

In 2000, Stephen Bennett founded Stephen Bennett Ministries www.SBMinistries.org and most recently, www.TheParentsGroup.com. The organizations help individuals with unwanted homosexuality from a Christian perspective, as well as provide support for parents, family members, friends and loved ones.

2. What a bunch of nonsense. He's not even making sense.
Edited on Mon Mar-19-07 02:49 PM by closeupready
And this weird language they use - he "received" Jesus Christ - what??? Can somebody tell me what that means? So he claims that "receiving" Jesus Christ is a "cure" for homosexuality, yet how does he explain the fact that Jesus never had anything to say about homosexuality???

24. Read "American Fascists"
Those fundies want to kill gays and liberals. They think that if you are "born again" you'll be "cured". So called ex-gays are encouraged by the movement to get married pronto and have children. Heck, even the Billy Grahmn crowd are leary of these new war and hate loving fundies. Billy, not his freaky son.

4. Unwanted homosexuality from a christian perspective
If it weren't for the christian perspective of hate and loathing and disinformation and persecution there would be no such thing as unwanted homosexuality. If I were the subject of persecution by dumbfuck assholes who hate in the name of Jesus Christ I might be pushed to the brink of being unwanted as well.

14. I was listening to a radio show and the topic was homophobia in the Black community.
Anyway, a "good Christian man" was discussing the Tim Hardaway story and the caller was talking about how homosexuality is a sin and the Bible say blah blah blah about it. He then stated that anyone who is so obviously homophobic is probably gay themselves. I thought I was hearing things because according to his logic, he would be gay too. But then he went on to say everyone is only a "snap" away from being gay, it's only the loving arms of Jesus that keep us from choosing that lifestyle. A SNAP!!! I think he actually meant to say "two snaps up and a circle."

I was hoping to get a clip of the show because I know DUers would have a field day with this guy.

17. The "choice" argument is predicated on the assumption that both options have value.
Ergo, it's always struck me that people who promote that argument believe that all people are potentially bisexual. That is, that all people have sexual attractions to their own gender.

19. I just can't accept that someone is an ex-gay. I find it much
easier to believe that they are bisexual and have decided to stop their same sex activities. I just don't think that you could change your sexual preferences to another orientation unless you had some attraction to that sexual orientation to begin with. Am I missing something here?

20. You're not missing a thing, the "ex-gay" movement is hogwash
These poor guys are so tormented by Biblical loathing, so uncomfortable in their own skin that they end up in some in-between world of not belonging anywhere. Very very sad.
