Democrats and the military.
My uncle is retired military and very right wing. He is on a military pension and he and his wife are involved in an organization (I keep telling them it is a union) that works to preserve their benefits. We just had a conversation where she said that crazy Barney Frank was talking about reducing the military by 25% and she hopes they keep their pension. I told her he was probably referring to scaling back in Iraq and she said she didn't think so. I told her that Democrats were usually the ones trying to help the soldier out and the Republicans usually wanted the money to build bombs and didn't care about the soldier once they had served. She said that was not true, that they had experienced it firsthand through the years and the Democrats were the ones wanting to take things away. I was diplomatic enough not to bring up the fact that they wanted to take away benefits from auto workers who had been guaranteed pensions so what is the difference. Anyway, what is the real skinny on this?

2. Too much info.

I hear this from veterans all the time as well, and it is just mind boggling. I believe that 100% of the attempts to cut veterans benefits over the past half century was at the hands of a Republican.

Ask them for examples then debunk them. Because listing everything would just be too much. I suppose you could look up how Obama was rated vs McCain by the various veterans lobbyist groups. Vietnam Veterans of America, for instance, gave Obama a 92% rating and McCain a whopping ZERO% during Obama's tenure in the Senate.

As to reducing the military by 25%, he is talking about reducing the size of the ACTIVE military. Budget cuts would never touch pensions. Only Republicans believe in taking away the retirement of people after they have earned it, i.e. Social Security, pensions for auto workers, etc.

3. He wants to INCREASE the military but cut Defense spending
by at least 25%. He wants to make sure Veterans are taken care of and our Military will not ever be taxed again like the Bush* Cabal has taxed it..Obama is for a very Strong America just not a Stupid one..
