3. I'm making all my presents this year...
DVD compilations of people's favorite artist's clips I've captured from Youtube..

I'm in the US, so I guess that would count as being US made, they take me quite a while to find just the right clips and go through all the steps of the DVD authoring process.

Nobody I'm doing presents for has any real need for anything material.

4. We're shopping at locally-owned businesses this year.
(We try to do that as much as possible anyway)

We're not buying a lot, but what we are will come from locally-owned shops.

8. I'll buy your pickles
Sounds like a punchline.

I love good pickles. My grandma made the best dill pickes. I miss her and them.

9. Well, thanks.
Actually I was 3 out of 3 at the Fair this year. Second place each for my bread-and-butter pickles and persimmon cookies and 1st place for my micro-macrame earrings. I won a whole $17.00 -- look out! LOL! I consider it partial re-imbursement for all the soft tacos and corn dogs I ate this year.

14. Because capitalism is based upon consumption?
If people don't buy useless crap then the economy grinds to a halt. It's a "crap you don't need" driven-market rather than an "essentials you do need" driven-market and has been since the earlier dawn of culture.

Lets be honest...all anybody really needs is:
A cave
Fresh water
Wild nuts and berries
Firewood

That's a pretty shitty life though.
