Executive privilege for Rove and Miers?
How is that possible? How do they deserve that? How can anyone have executive privilege? How can they dodge a supoena?

6. In today's USA Today, it said "The White House is likely to announce
this week whether it will let political strategist Rove aand former White House counsel Harriet Miers and other officials testify or whether it will seek executive privilege in preventing their testimonies." Hope Yen, A.P.
how can a "former" counsel or any of these wads be above supoena?

2. The thinking seems to be because they work for Junior
they are under his umbrella.

This could be a helluva fight.

5. It will be and it may be precedent setting
first stop is the DC Federal District Court and they have handled this before, but there are many unanswered questions and gaps in the caselaw. I'm trying to read the cases on this because I think you are right about it being one hell of a fight.

4. I believe
the claim of executive privilege is NOT so much that Miers and Rove are protected themselves by it, but that the President has the right to seek advice and counsel feely, without congressional oversight.

So, by extension, as advisors to the President, they are immune from congressional subpoenas, insofar as Congress can't interfere in the President's decision-making process.

We'll see how it plays out.

8. And I don't believe
any of them ever testified under oath under force of subpoena. Generally, a compromise is reached.

9. So the next kid who gets busted for marijuana can refuse to have his friends questioned?
Rove is NOTHING.. He was not elected to ANYTHING.

He "could be" an accomplice to a CRIME, though, and as a private citizen, how could he refuse to testify if subpoaened?

he's the president's paid-buddy...that's IT.
WE pay his salary.he owes US an explanation..

How sad is it when the president has to PAY his friends :)
