Well well....another ulcer for the Bushies.
Senator Durbin was just on the Senate floor and said that a study had just been completed that found since 2001:

Of all 93 districts, US attorney files show case investigations for

298 Democrats

67 Republics

7. Democrats have only had the subpoena power for about 6 weeks
Just think what new scandals they'll uncover after they've had it for 6 months.

11. "A cat in every tree". . . Who said that?
Someone said, of Democratic investigations of wrongdoing. . . "Every tree they've barked up has had a cat in it".

I thought it was a great visual.

12. I had no idea Democrats were so corrupt.

:P

To strengthen this we need to look into the historical data on corruption in our party vs. corruption in the Republicans. If the data shows that consistently our party has more individuals that are prosecuted for corruption, then this shows nothing about Bush (and more about us unfortunately.) On the other hand, if it shows the prosecution rate has been less than or similar to that of Republicans, then this will look suspicious in a very big way.

My instincts say that something is happening, though I don't want to jump the gun on such a serious discussion, because if this is much higher than the historical trend it indicates that in some way the President and his Administration has been manipulating the DOJ to prosecute Democrats more often than Republicans.

That's Nixonian and it's a terrifying thing to realize.

13. Does anyone know where to get this data on the internet?
Is it available publicly so that we can do this search ourselves?

17. Krugman talked about it and Colbert had the guy on his show last week.
His name is Dr. Donald Shields out of the Universtiy of MO, St Louis.

From Krugman's article:

Donald Shields and John Cragan, two professors of communication, have compiled a database of investigations and/or indictments of candidates and elected officials by U.S. attorneys since the Bush administration came to power. Of the 375 cases they identified, 10 involved independents, 67 involved Republicans, and 298 involved Democrats. The main source of this partisan tilt was a huge disparity in investigations of local politicians, in which Democrats were seven times as likely as Republicans to face Justice Department scrutiny.

16. With partisan US attorneys, even child molesters go free if they are Repubs (shocking details):
See the emails from law enforcement detailing the crime: http://www.lonestarproject.net/files/Burzynskiemail.pdf

See the partisan hack of a US attorney's letter declining to prosecute the guilty Repub appointees because there is no evidence the minor children didn't "consent" to the rape and no evidence that the rapes were "painful." http://www.lonestarproject.net/files/DOJTYC.pdf

Read all the details of this shameful partisan abuse of our system and our children here: http://www.lonestarproject.net/index.html
