Day 330 of 2008: 300 soldiers lost their lives in Iraq
Multiply that by about 10 to count the number of Iraqi citizens killed this year. Tens of thousands more wounded and injured.

To these people, "the surge" is not working.

9. I disagree with the decision, too, but pulling out will be a slow, painful process.
We'll lose people throughout the process of withdrawal. President Obama must've thought Gates could keep the death toll--American and Iraqi--to a minimum.
