A Question I'd Like To Hear From Every Committee Chairperson
As Congressional hearings continue and the malpractice of the last 6 years continues to be exposed I would like to hear each session begin with this question: During the time period in question what congressional oversight was applied to your agency?

In every case the answer will be nada, zilch, zero, none, not-a-bit, ......

It is an insult to our national heritage and a national disgrace that the Republican Congress between 2000 and 2006 was absent in its responsibility to the citizens of this country.

1. Yes, that would be an excellent question to ask. And none of them are asking it.
The question is why aren't they?

3. Perhaps because they don't think they can do much better?
Sad if that's the reason.

2. Exellent suggestion! Just a little reminder to start the day.
All this stuff could have been stopped years ago, if the Repugs weren't such craven, trough-feeding traitors.

4. Yessir, you nailed it.
The fact that we have an egomaniacal president who wants no limit to his power shouldn't surprise anyone. It is exactly what the Founders feared, and exactly why they set up a system of checks and balances, with equal branches of government to watch each other. But for the Republicans, party came first. Hell, it came second and third, and then came personal gain, and then donor paybacks, and only after that did they think about the Constitution, and then only in terms of how far they could violate it and not get punished.

Bush is actively evil, the Republican Congress was passively evil. It's the difference between a spousal abuser and all the people who stand by and let it happen.
