Our troops deserve honorable treatment

Why are we treating our brave men and women in the military as a bunch of wimps and losers? They are performing their voluntary service with great honor and courage. We should be very proud of them and support their mission around the world.

I am sick and tired of the media and liberal Democrats trying to undermine their effort in Iraq. Every time a brave soldier is killed in action, the media reports the death toll for the war and the liberal Democrats demand that we quit and leave Iraq. This is not only wrong - it goes against everything that has made our military the greatest in the world.

During the last four years, we have lost more than 100,000 Americans who had dangerous jobs - police officers, firefighters, construction workers, truckers. All of these professions are voluntary and are performed by individuals who know the risks.

If the media kept a daily total of deaths for each dangerous profession in America, we would have no buildings, roads, supplies or public safety. The liberal Democrats would demand an end to these activities.

It's time to stop playing politics with the lives of our military. Let them do their jobs with dignity and honor. - Robert R. Jacobs, Glendale

Today there were six or seven letters calling global warming a hoax.

12. My paper runs the "global warming is a hoax" letters in a cycle...

... Everyweek or so you get a different idiot with a new way to say the same thing. Some of the "cleverest" ways they have come up with is to point out that the earth must have been warmer in 1600 since reports now say it is warmer than any period since then. I had to point out that there are not accurate records before 1600 to compare to. That it snows a lot in Scottsdale, Arizona in March. I pointed out that snow in Scottsdale in March is normal. And that the sounthern polar ice cap on Mars is getting smaller. I pointed out that that is normal for Mars given its current position in its orbit. After a while these hoaxers just recycle their arguments and my paper prints them again. Stupidity at that level can't be natural, it has to be intentional.

...I noticed how often he was able to point out that they are volunteers. Whenever I hear a freeper point out that they are volunteers I counter that they volunteered with the expectation of competent civilian leadership. That the burden is not all on the volunteer force but on the idiots who started this war of choice too. And that the idiots are failing the volunteers miserably.

9. Totally misses the point of everything. It's not the 'numbers' that we object to, but

number of deaths involved in an immoral and illegal activity (the occupation of a sovereign country). I hope this fool knows someone who joined the National Guard to help fellow Americans in times of need and to defend our country. Maybe they could explain to Robert that they didn't join up to fight for international oil companies' profits!

17. What a freaking idiot! How many of those construction workers

marched onto the building site of another contractor, killed the workers already employed there, executed the contractor and the foreman, and proceeded to dismantle what had already been built in order to take the raw materials home and sell them at a profit?

That's just it; there IS no comparison between cops, firefighters, construction workers and other "risky occupations", and our troops in Iraq. Why do these idiots keep trying to make comparisons? :mad:
