1. horse race polls this early out are meaningless. I hated it in '04 when

I was supporting Dean and Kerry supporters would post polls showing Kerry running a couple of points better against Bush than Dean was as "proof" of his "electability". I support Obama and think he will be a tremendous candidate in a general election, but these early polls don't really mean a lot.

I'd prefer Edwards/Obama. Obama is a great guy, but I think it's a bit early for him to be president. Being vice-president would give him needed experience.

8. Dame Rudy and Weathervane McCain are tough to beat. HRC doesn't poll well

in general election matchups considering how high her name recognition is.

I find this poll to be completely unsurprising.

I am hoping for a Romney or Gingrich nomination, as MSM will never tarnish the hero status of Rudy and McCain.

9. Those answering the poll, what states were they in?

If candidate X gets a bare majority in CA, FL, NY and a couple of medium size states, it doesn't matter that candidate Y wins unanimously everywhere else.

In my judgement, these close numbers are a reason not to go with any of our rock star candidates. Slightly ahead is not good enough. The Rs have a built-in advantage with all those red, square states with small populations. We need a concensus candidate who will not be polarizing. Someone who will help enlarge our majority in Congress and who will get every vote except for the 28% hard core Rs.

at this early stage which given the world situation and Bush's popularity is a shame. I've seen polls where Edwards and yes, even Gore don't run any better, and in some cases worse than Clinton and Obama against Rudy and McCain.

I have seen no evidence that HRC will be able to defeat Dame Rudy. He has been polling ahead of her in blue states PA and NJ. Very ominous.

My firm was polling in NYS during 2000 and she would have been him because they know him and would have rather voted for a carpetbagger than that creep.
