I used to work at at TV station back in the stone age -- where all it took for one guy to get fired was putting 10 minutes of masking tape leader on a film so that was went out over the air when it was supposed to be Dennis the Menace, and editing out all the musical numbers from a Doris Day movie.

His first lousy job in TV was as the announcer during the late late night movie. At the end they played the anthem with a flag over the Indianapolis skyline.

He made a cardboard mockup of the skyline, cued the music, blew it up.

His bosses were not amused.
