I have to say I was impressed by Sen. Chuck Hagel on The Today Show

***Not enough to vote for him for president
but he made the arguement that Congress is a co-equal branch of government and Bush just can't discount the will of congress and he also insinuated that congress does hold the purse strings and that Bush will be coming to them for supplemental income for the war and if the president disregards the will of congress, congress could take charge of matters when it comes to voting additonal income for the occupation.

He also was asked if he was going to run for president and he replied that they would be the first to find out (very coy), if he is the GOP nominee he would be the hardest to defeat, imo. But I doubt given the animosity many Republicans in congress and "true believers" have towards him--he won't be nominated. It makes me wonder if he would go the Independent route?

I understand some of his other positions would curdle milk. Plus, there's the highly suspicious way he got elected. Still, I'm enjoying him a lot lately. (Not enough to vote for him.)

Highly unlikely to get the nomination, but if he did, could have broad appeal among swing voters, indys and even some Dems.
