2. Heck no -

my building in on Pennsylvania Avenue, althought the other side of the White House from the Capitol. However we already have been told we have the day off. There is no way I'm coming into DC that day. In 1992 the firm I worked for was at 7th and Penn. They decided to have a reception for clients and staff were told they had to come. Getting there sucked and getting home was worse. Thankfully in 1996, 2000 and 2004 I had moved up Penn to 21st Street and we got the day off without having to do the "come in and impress the clients" schtick.

4. I'm staying home, putting my feet up, and enjoying the inauguration on the TeeVee

I live in the area, I work downtown and we have the day off because it is such a pain to get in to town. I would like to go, I HATE crowds like that. I have a feeling that unless you are there in the middle of the night, you won't get a good spot along the route, and will end up on the mall watching it on the jumbotrons. I'll be nice and warm at home.

I tried every feasible which way - the only way I could is to fly to Philly and take the Amtrak down to DC but even then finding a place to stay is EXTREMELY difficult. Seems like half the country is going to be in DC that week.

We've got reservations at a hotel near a metro stop with shuttle service and my congresscritter's aide says we are on the list for tickets but I won't believe it until I go to his office and pick them up. I want to go whether we actually get tickets are not. This is a once-in-a-lifetime occasion and I want to see be there!
