Who builds the military vehicles?
3/4 ton trucks and 1 ton and 2 ton and tractors and even the hum-vees. Are those vehicles built by American moter companies or are they outsourced? If they are American moter companies can we let them fail at risk of our National Security?

2. Just because Ford or GM go bankrupt is no reason to believe they necessarily must stop production.
Many companies go bankrupt, go into receivership, and continue operations until they are solvent.

For a :tinfoilhat: idea, why not use Chapter 11 and let the court appoint a management team chosen from competent managers from any company in the world to manage Ford and GM back into profitability?

If that requires new laws, Congress can pass new laws and there is no Constitutional barrier since corporations are not mentioned in our Constitution and therefore have no rights under our Constitution.

3. They're made by four companies
AM General makes the Humvee, Stewart & Stevenson makes the Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (2-1/2 ton and 5 ton trucks), Freightliner makes the current generation M915 linehaul truck (basically a semi tractor painted green) and Oshkosh makes most of the rest of it.

I'm more than a bit worried about the Humvee, as its engine and transmission are Commercial Off The Shelf GM parts.

6. AMG now makes the engine themselves
I don't know about the transmission, but they started producing the engine themselves in 2000.

"General Engine Products (GEP) produces the OPTIMIZER 6500 V-8 diesel engine at its 92,000-sq.-ft. Franklin, Ohio assembly plant. This engine can be found in new HMMWVs, HUMMER® H1s, as a service replacement engine for numerous vehicles and in marine applications. "

4. When I was in the navy we had jeeps that were made from 4 different
companies. there were the gm ones, ford built 'em, so did amc and white motor co. So I suspect all three build something for the military.
