So, thanks to the Christian Evangelical Crazy People in Georgia the Democrats will not have their hoped-for, prayed-for, (please, Jesus, let us have just this one thing and we'll never bring up the priests-screwing-children thing again, promise!) 60 seat filibuster-proof super-majority in the Senate. Which means the Democrats will have to conduct themselves like Republicans and actually kick ass and browbeat and curse and threaten and hold press conferences and call down the Fires of Righteous Damnation on the Republicans when they, the Democrats, want to end the gibbering bullshit that will come erupting from the purty mouths of the Republicans when they want to stop legislation that might actually help the country recover from 24 years of unmitigated hell.

The Senate Democrats find themselves yet again cowering in the corner, whimpering, sucking their thumbs, acting like abused children or battered spouses because Democratic challenger Jim Martin was defeated by the incumbent Republican Saxby Chambliss. (Oh, help us, someone! Please! The Republicans are going to HURT us. Again.)

But . . . Martin's defeat may be a good thing. See, it's like this: Georgia may be a seriously fucked-up Confederate hold-out State, but, my god, even Georgia Democrats wouldn't want someone like Jim Martin elected to the U.S. Senate. I mean, Martin is a monster! A drooling, corpse-abusing ghoul! He steals money from blind crippled widows! He beats children who are warehoused in "juvenile homes" when he thinks no one's watching and the surveillance cameras are turned off! He had sex with his own mother! Consensual sex, for chrissakes! He's an arsonist! He sets fires to old folks' homes and then stands in the street laughing hysterically as the fire department tries valiantly to rescue choking, burning 80-year-olds! they've put down a special pellet, but they also found the place where they are coming in from the roof. They'll get these guys, but they live in Palm trees, one of which is along my fence. They they scurry along the fence and hop up on the tree, into the attic! My Simon sits on the ground for hours staring up at the top of the fence, waiting for one of the Rat Bastards to fall down and become supper!

the are coming back in 2 weeks but it will cost $400 to seal up the holes. And my awful neighbors stack their garbage right along the fence. That's the food source and my walls are the hotel.

Never had to do that with spayed or neutered cats, but I think they had dissolving stitches. HAC came close to having one of those because when it was almost time for the stitches to be removed from her stump of a tail, she started peeing on our bed when I would try to distract her from pulling at the stitches.

The Vet Asst. who lived in the 'hood at the time, and who worked for the vet who treated her, came by, checked her out and removed the stitches. She was spayed at the same time, and never pulled at her tummy where the dissolving stitches were. :shrug: Animals are funny critters.

82. We had a cocker who was newly spayed (still with stitches) and we took

in a kitten and the cocker who had never had puppies allowed this kitten to bring milk into her and she was nursing the kitten. I decided a long time ago that we're not a 'normal' family.
Cats and dogs and kids living together, and dog nursing kitten - the world should've ended over a decade ago. :rofl:

47. I'm trying to get the house cleaned up a little, and get the

holiday decorations out and the inside of the house done prior to the 11th. Mr. lefty will be gone for a couple of days and he and Charlie will both be coming home on the 11th. I'll get to spend some time with Charlie, while his brothers are still in school, if I have everything except the tree done inside prior to their arrival.

Charlie talks to me and sometimes serves as another set of hands when I'm baking, etc. I can't wait!! Sometimes he'll accompany me on shopping trips for his brothers, so it'll be good, I hope!

The 13 yr. old male will make you bite nails into. I'm less patient with the third one because I've done this twice before. We've been lucky in that after that yr. we've not had problems (crossing fingers, crossing fingers, knocking on wood), but this one drives his older siblings up the wall. My hair is getting grayer, and that furrow between my brows is getting deeper with this one. He's really good natured and a sweetheart when he wants to be. He just doesn't want to be very often right now.

Friend of mine in Chicago has a similar problem, with garbage piled high in the alleyway.
They fumigated their garage - TWICE!
But as long as their crazy neighbors keep dumping the trash out there the rats come back. :-(

I hope you get that fixed up soon. Ya know, you can file a renter's complaint at City Hall and have your rent put in escrow until the landlord addresses the safety/sanitary situation. I'd look into that.

Researchers find 2,700-year-old marijuana stash

Researchers have found a bag of marijuana weighing nearly two pounds buried in a tomb in a remote part of China. The grass, all 1.79 kilograms of it, was obviously “cultivated for psychoactive purposes,"according to a paper in the aptly named Journal of Experimental Botany. Marijuana grown for fiber to make clothes and rope is far more common at archaeological sites.

“To our knowledge, these investigations provide the oldest documentation of cannabis as a pharmacologically active agent," Dr. Ethan B. Russo told The Toronto Sun.

Though it had lost most of its odor, it appeared to be in good shape, having maintained most of its color. Scientists attribute this to the dry conditions in the tomb and the alkaline soil, which acted as a preservative.

They also believe the pot was rather strong, but sadly it was too old to be properly tested for its THC content. The tomb was uncovered in Xinjiang province, home to the Uyghurs, a group of Chinese Muslims.
