Mainstream journalist admits the MSM wants drama
You must have noticed that everyone and his mom within the mainstream punditocracy has said the Clintons will bring drama to the Obama administration. But a conflict of interest puts this assertion in doubt, since journalists even admit to desire the drama. This was Clarence Page, one of the most widely read columnists in the nation (Chicago Tribune) today responding to a question from Chris Matthews:

Page: The only thing about having Hillary Clinton there is we know her and her husband to be drama people, and we've got "no drama Obama" as the chief executive.

MATTHEWS: Well, how is he going to keep the drama at bay?

PAGE: Well, do we want that? We're journalists.

1. Can't these no-brains wean themselves off yellow journalism?
No. The answer is no. We don't have mainstream news, just Olberman, Maddow, and that's cable. What is it going to take for news to be presented, not fucking drama?

2. Because they are not really NEWS REPORTERS. They are cost centers
for the owners of the media, and their only concern is making sure that they are cost effective, which means they must always do something, anything, to sell advertizing on their particular medium.

5. Uh... so
I'm a mainstream reporter and yeah, I do want drama. It's fun to write about. Don't blame the media for wanting something that makes their jobs fun. Our jobs is to report, not referee. Fuck.

6. The corporate media only want
Edited on Thu Dec-04-08 12:38 AM by Uncle Joe
"drama" when they believe it serves the corporate media's agenda. If they believe political leaders actually empower or serve the people's best interest, the corporate media will wallow in drama until the cows come home.

Drama my ass, where the hell have they been the past eight years? They've totally ignored, swept under the rug and white washed extremely dramatic stories all for sake of camouflaging the same corrupt incompetence for which they gave a free pass to the White House to begin with.

7.  We give them the power....
to frame the discussion of the day, and create reality. It is entertaining to a whole lot of people.
