Barbara Walters 10 Most "Fascinating" people (tonight at 10PM)
Hosted by Barbara Walters, the special includes: Academy Award® nominee and Grammy winner Will Smith, three-time Academy Award® nominee Tom Cruise, Tina Fey, famous for her Sarah Palin impersonation on "Saturday Night Live" and her Emmy Award-winning sitcom, "30 Rock," political commentator Rush Limbaugh, legendary actor and star of "Frost/Nixon" Frank Langella, teen sensation Miley Cyrus, and record breaking Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps. Also on the list are Thomas Beatie (the transgendered man who gave birth to a baby girl this past summer) and Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.

Babs you are now officially a joke. Rush Limbaugh "fascinating"??? "political commentator"???

Well at least Rush is willing to let someone else have a mic with him in the same room.

Frankly I have noticed a hard-to-miss trend over the last year especially-they earnest effort to establish Rush Limbaugh as a reasonable voice to be taken seriously. The powers that be in media are taking us into a disinformation bubble that is frightening.

1. Tom Cruise is about as interesting as a bowl of oatmeal.
I'll be sure to skip this tonight.

2. I don't find any of them interesting.. Tina Fey might be ok, but I really watch
her to be funny; not try and know her as a BFF.. I hate how the entire entertainment on t.v. is manipulated around wanting other's to envy someone else and for people to actually know more about some famous person than they've taken to know about their next door neighbors.

23. Easily one of the 10 most fascinating people of 2008
I blame the Noodle Incident and politics for ABC's failure to recognize me as such.

Damn Republicans.

6. also, hasn't Rush been one of her most "fascinating people" in years past?
I read that somewhere. Oh, and she was kissing Rush's ass today on the air. And who is the "most fascinating" going to be, Sarah Palin?

15. By chance I was eavesdropping on him this morning while driving....
I know...gross...but with the incoming Obama administration I'm trying to do the "know thy enemy" thing....

Anyway, he said today he was first named in 1993........

:puke:

And since the promos came out for this I have been fuming that SP was going to be #1, which Babs always keeps hidden....ooohhh exciting, suspenseful....NOT!

But then a breathed a sigh of relief....Obama did that interview with her last week....why?....he is, OF COURSE, the most fascinating, so as a concilation, I think he's going to be #1.

8. Facinating in a "Royal Family" kind of way.
Edited on Thu Dec-04-08 01:09 PM by MarkInCA
If she finds all of these people facinating, she probably would be just as happy playing with a ball of string, doesn't take much to entertain her.

Will Smith - interesting and talented
Tina Fey - Sudden thrust into election politics was interesting

The rest, phooey. The only thing facinating about Cyrus is how long it will take her to go down the Spears road to self destruction.

13. Hate to say it but Limbaugh's rise is more fascinating than most of the others listed
Edited on Thu Dec-04-08 01:39 PM by Mike Daniels
I worked in media for a while and while I can hate everything Limbaugh stands for I can still appreciate the work/effort that went into making him the broadcast icon he is today.

29. Sure "Rush the comedian" got a big contract this year
but I look at him as on the downhill. Like the sports icon who gets the big contract in the twilight of a career. It's Rachel Maddow who should have that spot in this year's list.

14. On the The View, Walters was keeping Palin a secret...and I believe that
Palin is Walters' Most Fascinating. :puke:

Chin up folks! Time Magazine once had Adolf Hitler as Time Man Of The Year.

16. I posted upthread about this....
I was worried about this too.

I know...who cares...but it would really, really bug me to see that woman get one more kudo from anyone.

So, I was thinking....what was the rush or the importance of getting Obama and Michelle in front of the cameras with Babs last week....it is because he is going to be most fascinating.

I hope I'm right as it will take the edge off the RL and SP rankings which pissed me off to no end.

that I have the ittiest bit of respect left for. She regained some ground last week with the Obamas interview.

18. IIRC ... they only announce 9 of the "Ten most fascinating" ...
and none of the 9 announced are the #1 ...

Which puts Palindrone out of the pic for "most fascinating" ...

So, Barack, Michelle, Joe The Plumber, and quite a number of potentials are in the running ... but unnamed ...

22. In a weird way, woudn't it be fun to see Barbara Walters sitting down with
Joe The Plumber?

BTW..thanks for your counting the amount of people that were listed. It's just she was so mum on Palin being on, that I thought it could be her.

24. Actually only 8 have been named, and HOLY MOTHER OF GOD if
Joe the Plumber makes the list I will never watch anything that Babs has to offer ever again.

I think that sit down last week with Obama was so they could get the footage for #1...it only makes sense really.....

But the last unannounced on the list, I was thinking....who could it be....please not Samuel the Plumber's Assistant....please no.....I cannot take the affirmation of idiocy by the MSM anymore.....

Tom Cruise, Will Smith, Rush Limbaugh, Frank Langella, and Miley Cyrus? Not one of them was particularly interesting this year.

and like him or not, he does have one of the top rated shows.
