Man answers Craigslist baby-sitter ad, uses child for porn video
A suburban man has admitted in court to answering a Craigslist ad for a family seeking a baby-sitter, then using the child he was looking after to produce a pornographic video.

Aaron Jay Lemon, 23, of Little Canada, pleaded guilty Wednesday in federal court in Minneapolis to producing child pornography. Lemon faces a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison.

According to his plea agreement, in August 2007 Lemon answered an ad on Craigslist to work as a baby-sitter. While baby-sitting in St. Paul, he used a video camera and recorded the child in a pornographic depiction.

Doesn't this make you sick. This is the second crime in Minnesota from a person answering a craigslist ad.

18. That was my first thought.
Maybe a person doesn't need a babysitter THAT bad. This whole story gives me the creeps, big time!

3. Is it presumptuous for me to assume he's a Republican?
Of course, I'm kidding. Sort of...

Why would any parent trust their child to someone they hooked up with on Craigslist?

4. What? Baby sitter from CL?
What?!? Only an idiot would hire a baby sitter based on a Craig's List ad. Anyone that stupid should have the child removed by Child Protective Services.

I won't even go to someone's house to look at something advertised on Craig's List. Too many folks have been robbed doing that. It's a popular scam. The victim shows up with a wad of cash to buy the really low-priced item and goes away without the item or the cash.

Craig's List is great, but not for baby-sitters.

6. To all parents: Read Protecting The Gift
Protecting The Gift should be required reading for parents. We have instincts, but we've been taught to ignore them in an effort to be polite. Or we assume "bad guys" look a certain way, so if we meet someone who looks clean cut, we assume that person must not be a "bad guy".

:(

No, I would not find a babysitter on Craigslist, but then I'm paranoid about babysitters anyway.

8. At risk of being sexist
I wouldn't hire a male babysitter unless I knew the guy and I'd known him for a LONG time.

Yeah, women can be sketchy too, but the risks of a woman molesting your kids are much lower.

12. I think the internet just makes it easier for pedophiles
I do not think there are necessarily more of them, just that it is easier to hook up with prey via the tubes.

19. The might have been better off leaving the baby in the men's room.
Social Services offers free baby pickup service from bus station restrooms.

15. Not a great way to find a babysitter.
I suppose it could work IF you checked their references. You should do that with any babysitter you don't personally know.
