Back in the '60s, there was a guy in Houston who was building under-slung three-wheelers with 327/350 Chevys in them. They were fast as hell and you could not roll them. They would just spin.

My brother put a corvair engine in his 68 bug.
It was a monster that would take out corvettes and GTOs
because they thought it was a VW engine.

6. My dad had a Corvair Monza Spyder.

I think GM made a couple hundred of them.

He kept it for some time and then bought a Mustang Shelby 500. He still claims that Corvair was more fun to drive than was the 500.

He is 78 years old and he is HotRodding some kind of Jeep. Told me he is getting some "major power" out of it. He has been a HotRodder all his life.

7. The corvair engine was designed by porsche and GM

My brother had to reverse the driveshaft because the cam runs the opposite
direction than the VW. When you close the engine hood on his VW it wouldn't close
all the way but look like it was just ajar by about 2 inches. It had 130 hp vs the VW's 57hp.
My brother worked with Shelby race team for a while in California so your dad might like that. He was a mechanical genius.
