Barney Frank Zinger...
Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA):

"Obama's going to have to be more assertive than he's been. At a time of great crisis with mortgage foreclosures and autos, he says we only have one president at a time. I'm afraid that overstates the number of presidents we have. He's got to remedy that situation."

Oh, snap!

1. The best possible zinger
by Rep. Barney Frank. It was heard on every news outlet, and heard around the world, writing off the 8 miserable Bush years with this very clever one-liner!

2. Humorous?
Yes. Snap? Not by a long shot. Perhaps Barney could spend his time and efforts in the oval office trying to convince shrub to step down, I believe the only scenario where Obama could take office early. Being clever, although at times humorous, does nothing to advance his desires, and gives the false impression that Obama has the means to do this, but refuses to act. The president-elect deserves better from his own party. When he is sworn in, and puts into practice his powers as president, then the people can determine if he has earned it. Thanks.

3. Well excuuuuuuuse moi for posting something funny. Sheesh.
I wasn't looking for a complete rundown of Frank's value and performance - I just posted it because it's funny.

Lighten up. Public servants ARE allowed to have a sense of humour too.

9. I don't know, this was pretty funny...
``I do not believe we are facing any kind of a crisis.''

Barney Frank in 2003, in response to a Treasury Department proposal to significantly strengthen the oversight of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. I mean, isn't that quote a riot??? The ranking Democrat on the House Financial Services Committee had an opportunity to strengthen oversight of the mortgage industry, but instead he fought it tooth and nail. Good thing he wasn't wrong 5 years ago or else we might have a serious mortgage problem on our hands today!

12. When you examine Geithner, Summers, and Rubin with respect
To the Fannie's and to derivatives, SIV's, Credit Default Swaps, etc and then if you look at where President-elect Obama plans on putting these guys, you realize it is not just Barney that is the problem.

Here's the remedy to the problem - We really need a second party, one that will effectively rein in the Money Party.

13. you obviously have NO idea who you're talking about.
barney frank is a national treasure, a sensible liberal, and a laugh riot to boot. he can dish it out better than ANY other politian since churchill.

and "freak" is a REALLY inappropriate word to use, never mind "pos" and advocating tarring and feathering.

oh, and just in case you've been under a rock for many years now, he's the only openly gay member of congress.

but we wouldn't want anyone (other than perhaps saints according to natrat) to dis shrub, would we?

8. He had a zinger or two during the Big 3 bailout hearings recently too...
...he doesn't mince words. He made his thoughts known on the disparity between what is given - no questions asked - to the damn banks, but refused to the automakers. He used the phrases "white collar workers" and "blue collar workers" - I was personally glad to hear SOMEONE address this disparity in those terms and Frank did just that.

11. It was a great line
Though Frank should realize that Obama has no magic wand, and has his plate pretty full with the task of assembling his administration, which he is accomplishing in record time. That task is preliminary to Obama's actual assumption of power, and will enable him to push his agenda through Congress and govern in this time of crisis.
