Want To Do Something Different This Christmas?
My wife and I, after growing tired of the yearly gift exchange, have, for the last several years, taken a different approach to Christmas.

After sending checks to her kids to buy gifts for the grandkids, we take the amount of money, which we used to spend on ourselves and other adult friends and family members, and put it to a different use.

We put together care packages to send to Iraq.

If you would like to do the same here is where to start:

http://anysoldier.com/

This year we are sending several boxes of goods (food, candy cookies, toiletries, feminine Hygiene products etc.), to a small unit
of 3 women and 5 men.

1. I found this website
http://www.fundable.com/current

You can research the different topic and give money to any issue. I was told about this website from a non profit veterinary bills association because they are out of funds. In fact, one Du'ers corgi dog is looking for funds for surgery at this site. However, lots of families and issues on this site and I'm not sure people know about this website yet.

2. Bless you!
We send art supplies to a unit over there we found through anysoldier.com. Our soldiers need something to do in their spare time, and they requested art supplies. I wish I knew how to post pics, cuz I would love to show you what they have sent us. One soldier drew a portrait of my wife with the charcoal and sketch pads we sent. Others sent us scorpions made of the colored wire we sent. Yet another sent a hand carved ornament of three camels! Our contact, who was a 57 year old woman stationed in Balad, Iraq, is now back home in Georgia. She sent us two CDs filled with hundreds of original photos form Iraq. I will treasure these things forever!

I assure you anything you send will be appreciated. My daughters fiance leaves for Afghanistan next week. He already has one tour in Iraq under his belt. He just re-upped for two more years with the air force. MAy God watch over him and all our other brothers and sisters serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.
