Hey guys. I have been looking to relocate to an area where I would be able to start a business in a fairly liberal market. I have been thinking about starting my own small publishing business specializing in weird fiction, and I need a good place to start. Any suggestions?

1. If it's a publishing business, why does it matter where you locate it?

Or are you intending to only sell locally?

If you have a chance, stop by central western Colorado. A growing progressive community with all the toys.

16. If you want to look west,

Santa Fe (where I live now) or Boulder (where I lived about 18 years ago) could be nice. Both are rather liberal and indeed, have their share of odd characters. Except that neither community is probably large enough to buy that much weird fiction. However both have at least a couple of s-f writers living there.

17. Move to Austin

Hello,
I think you should investigate Austin as a base. It's plenty weird here and there and there is money still flowing. I live south of there in the boonies, but the town is fun to be in and there are a lot of young people in various universities. Also there is not much of a winter ( a few days of 20's or 30's, sometimes a couple of days in the teens (that's when the plumbing starts popping)), but the summer is hot. If you don't like hot, forget it. Good luck in your adventure!
