December 09 Knights of Labor founded. Constitution bars from membership “parasites,” including stockbrokers and lawyers - 1869  December 9, 1990 - Lech Walesa, leader of the Solidarity trade union, was elected president of Poland. In 1980, Walesa helped form Solidarity and, under his leadership, the union pushed for improved working conditions and democratic reforms. Their efforts were aided by the AFL-CIO and unions in the United States. In 1983, Walesa won the Nobel Peace Prize. Posted here by accident. X posted in Labor. |
