6. In a couple of months, when your body's immune reaction

has completely subsided, do yourself a favor and get the pneumonia vaccine. It protects against the 23 most common strains of bacterial pneumonia and has a secondary benefit of protecting us against bacteria sinus infections after a cold.

I don't recommend getting one on the heels of a pneumonia because the reaction to the shot will be pretty painful (couldn't lift my arm for two weeks when I made that mistake).

It's not a sure thing, but it will reduce your chances of going into pneumonia if you get another bad flu down the road.

I've been through pneumonia twice and it doesn't pay to get too energetic even if you think you're over it. Give it some time. Best wishes for a speedy recovery to good health.
