HE DIDN'T REGISTER WITH ANY PARTY
He considers himself apolitical. This is well-documented.

attorneys? I am just trying to put pieces together here. Why doesn't he go after this if in case he was not the guy?

17. No. He is not.
He is the guy who convicted Scooter Libby, wanted to convict Dick Cheney (and would have, if it weren't for Scooter's obstruction of justice), and who convicted Blagojevich's predecessor, Republican governor George Ryan.

18. Fitzgerald was appointed--by a fluke when Ashcroft was out of the picture--
to investigate the Plame outing affair. He had nothing to do with firing any US Attorneys. He conducted what appeared to be a thorough investigation, but was not able to get all the data--or indictments--he had hoped for (probably including Karl Rove) because of stonewalling from the White House. He has prosecuted both Republicans and Democrats in high office. Some think he pulled his punches at the end in the Plame investigation. I don't think so, myself. I see him as honest and not politically motivated. I think he's taking Blago down because it's what his job requires him to do. Blago is dirty. The timing is what it is because of when Blago did what he did.

13. Yes, Honest. I read a lot about him when he went after former Gov. George Ryan.
Cannot be bought, although some say he can. Some say he would have gotten Cheney if he could have. He made a statement after the conviction of Cheney saying that more higher ups were involve.. Others know more than me, but I believe he is honest.

19. Fitzgerald is a coward. Scooter Libby was convicted of
Obstruction of Justice. Exactly what 'justice' was he 'obstructing'? Is Mr. Fitz so cowardly he can't pursue justice? I think the justice is putting Cheney, Bush and Rove into jail. It's mind boggling that the person saying "Look over there." while a crime is being committed 'over here' is being prosecuted when the actual crime goes unpunished.

24. Well, then, you'd better sell your story to the media
After hundreds of thousands of articles about Patrick Fitzgerald since 2001, you are the only one who seems to know his "true" political status.

He's insisted repeatedly that he does not belong to any party, and that includes "independent".

25. I'm just saying that was what I remembered reading.
Not what he said.

Personally, I don't really care.

I think the widely held notion that he was republican comes from his having been appointed by repukes and having his career advanced by repukes. My use of the word "independent" was generic, not formal, although I don't know what possible difference there could be between "independent" and "undeclared" unless he's a closeted something.

22. he was nominated by Peter Fitzgerald (no relation)
who held the Senate seat now occupied by Sen Obama. These positions are nominated by the Senior Senator of the party in the white house. Peter was the Republican Senator who nominated him for Bush II. Prosecutor fitzgerald is an honest Republican. He seems to be doing a fine and fair job.
