Anything stopping Blago from appointing himself Senator now?
Any law preventing him from thumbing his nose?

3. He would still have to be seated by the existing Senate.

5. The Senate can refuse to seat him.
Naming yourself Senator does not look good when you just spent the day in the clink getting booked on federal corruption charges.

Methinks his attorneys will probably tell him to keep quiet, and possibly resign to avoid impeachment.

7. The Senate has final say in who sits with the Senate
They've got the right to determine if someone was legitimately elected to the Senate, they can expel members who get in anyway or who otherwise cross lines, etc. It's all there in Article I.

8. On any grounds it likes.
The Senate is the final arbiter of its own membership.
