Those who want to blame others for Blago, Spitzer, Jefferson, Kilpatrick, etc.
Whether or not they were targets, they committed the crimes. They gave their opposition the opening. Every Democrat should act as though they are being targeted and(crazy idea)--DON'T BREAK THE LAW!

They brought themselves down. Had they kept their nose clean, they wouldn't be in trouble. They, and any pol who gets caught has no one to blame but themselves.

Elected officials depend on trust. When they are caught, they gotta go.

1. They only should have to go if the voters say so, not just because they got caught.

Have you never stood with someone who was charged with a crime?

2. It's going to be impossible for Blagojevich to govern at this point.
He's politically dead. He might as well resign now before he's impeached and removed from office.

4. Very few people stood with Blago in the first place.
I don't know what it is today, but a bunch of posters are displaying a lot of party loyalty at the exact wrong time.

5. When you're accused of certain crimes, it makes perfect sense to restrict...
...your exercise of certain rights and privileges, and restrain you from certain ordinarily legitimate actions, until a full determination of innocence or guilt is made.

If law enforcement has sufficient evidence to go to a judge and ask for an arrest warrant, and the judge agrees that the evidence is sufficiently compelling to issue that warrant, society must proceed on the assumption that while you are innocent until proven guilty, there may be an unacceptable risk allowing you to continue in certain activities until the proof is established.

Therefore, it's perfectly legitimate to demand that someone arrested for child molestation be suspended from their job at a pre-school until after a trial proves them innocent.

It's perfectly legitimate to demand that an elected official arrested for corruption be suspended from exercising the power delegated to them by their election until a trial proves them innocent.

And it's perfectly legitimate to call for the resignation of an elected official who has, through their actions, public utterances (or lack thereof), and other sins of omission/comission, destroyed public trust in themselves and their office, regardless of whether the commission of an actual crime is at issue.

assertively,
Bright

7. Standing by a friend is not the same as justifying his or her actions.
As someone from the Detroit area, I was happy to see Kwame resign. I was happy to see him go to jail. I hope the feds indict him for further charges. His lie cost the city $9 million, a city with little money and a lot of very impovershed residents.

11. yup, just like Larry Flynt went after Republicans
yes he targeted them, but it wasn't made up. they still did what Flynt exposed them of doing.

there are different cases like Don Siegelman's and that's what we should be fighting against.
