1. So, he was convicted yesterday? Oh wait, yes he was...by
our wonderful media. I have no dog in this fight, but lets get the entire story first.

6. Damning yes, but whether b*sh likes it or not, in America
you should still be innocent until PROVEN guilty.

8. I agree wholeheartedly...
...but he has been arrested by the most trustworthy US Attorney in recent memory. Blago's continuation as IL Gov threatens Obama's former senate seat (as a special election could result in a republican taking it).

10. so you would have argued that upon being indicted Scooter Libby shouldn't have resigned?
Whether or not he's guilty, there are two reasons for Blago to resign. First, he's going to be preoccupied with defending himself from serious criminal charges and unable to devote any where near the attention to the job of being governor that the public should be able to expect. Second, at this particular moment in time, one of the most important duties as governor is to appoint a replacement to fill Obama's senate seat. And no one in their right mind would now accept that appointment if it came from Blago, resulting in gridlock that can only be broken if he steps down.

If he is proven innocent, he can run again as the vindicated victim of a prosecutorial injustice. Not that I think there's a snowball's chance in hell of that happening.

5. Yes, convicted by his own unmistakable words caught on tape.
I imagine he'll plead guilty and try to bargain his sentence in exchange.

7. What Illinois needs
is the state equivalent of the US Constitution's 25th Amendment. Blagojevich could step aside temporarily (or be forced aside temporarily by an appropriate set of state officials), and the lieutenant governor could take over until this legal mess is straightened out. If Blagojevich is found not guilty, he gets his job back. If not ....

(Everything I know about the 25th amendment, I learned on The West Wing. Thank you, Lawrence O'Donnell!)
