I'm finding a softening of attitudes in my formerly red state environs. The reality of a country in the ditch is sinking in as the ground softens beneath our collective feet.

There are fewer die-hard Wingnuts who even in the privacy of their own black hearts cannot admit something has gone fundamentally wrong, because they cannot own up to co-responsibility and errors in judgment.

I join Colbert in calling them the back-wash. They are getting to be very low in numbers lapping softly as they carefully hold large parts of their previously huge tongues..

I reminded them we were hoping Stupid would surprise us all and govern the way he campaigned, too.

I've never seen the Kubler-Ross grief stages happen so quickly, though. They seem to have moved straight from anger to acceptance.

4. Daschle is a DLC centrist from a Red State--not exactly a "flaming liberal".

He isn't threatening to the right wing because he a warrior dedicated to defending the status quo.

7. I am finding myself being asked an interesting question, by those

who don't like the election outcome.
"Do you think he will serve two terms?"

What they are telling me, in my opinion, is that they are not gutsy enough to criticize in the face of my obvious "bias". And that they want to express that the "mistake" can and will be rectified after one term.

I usually smile big. Then say something like: President to be Obama will be such a powerfully effective President that not only will he be re-elected, the voters will install him for life.
