Overwhelmed ...

Where do I even begin to express my gratitude to the many DUers who sent their condolences upon hearing of my mother's passing?

There don't seem to be words precise enough to capture the feeling of being so surrounded by warmth, nor sufficient enough to thank those who shared not only my sorrow, but their own stories of losing a loved one as well.

I have always felt part of the DU community. Yesterday, it was more than community - I was part of a family.

Thank you all, each and every one of you - your kind words are bookmarked in my heart. :grouphug:

When you awaken in the morning's hush,

It meant a great deal to me. I found it to be very comforting.

We are family. We hold each other up when things get rough, and when there is cause to rejoice, we cheer each other on. We also fight like cats and dogs.

If that isn't family, I don't know what is.

27. Nance, I lost my parents ten months apart. My Papa was expected

but my Mom was not. There is only the comfort of other people and their regard that can lighten even a little bit the sorrow you feel. I feel them every moment, they show me they are here and so will your Mama. There is nothing in this world like the love of a parent for their child. They love and guide and help you all your life and when they have to go, that doesn't change. She will be with you in your dreams and she will let you know during your day that she is close to you. When you feel pain, her hands will be on your face. You will feel them. I only wish you and yours the most grace and hope. It will be hard but it will get easier. Only love for you today, Nance.

29. My condolences to you, Nance (&Jeff) .I missed the original post.

I've spent most of the last week and a half at the VA hospital here, where my 78 year old dad underwent life-threatening surgery, spent a week in ICU, and is now beginning to recover, so I haven't checked out DU for a while.

I know how lucky I am, and I can only begin to imagine what you are feeling right now, but my thoughts and prayers are with you and Jeff. She must have been a very special woman to bring up a daughter like you. :hug:
