Bat Masterson's last words.
The old gunfighter-turned-New York-journalist was found dead of a heart attack, at his desk, in 1921.

These are the last words he typed.

"There are those who argue that everything breaks even in this old dump of a world of ours. I suppose these ginks who argue that way hold that because the rich man gets ice in the summer and the poor man gets it in the winter things are breaking even for both. Maybe so, but I'll swear I can't see it that way."

5. Damn, you're old.
Make up some lyrics, I'll do the instrumental.

Y'see, I am old, too.

BAT MASTERSON
Theme song from the TV Show "Bat Masterson" (1958 - 1961)
(Havens Wray / Bart Corwin)

Back when the West was very young
There lived a man named Masterson
He wore a cane and Derby hat
They called him Bat, Bat Masterson

A man of steel the stories say
But women's eyes all glanced his way
A gambler's game he always won
His name was Bat, Bat Masterson

The trail that he blazed is still there
No one has come since to replace his name
And those with too ready a trigger
Forgot to figure on his lightning cane

Now, in the legend of the West
One name stands out of all the rest
The man who had the fastest gun
His name was Bat, Bat Masterson

16. Now THAT brings back some fond memories.
I loved watching those old Westerns with my Grandfather, a true cowboy.

17. How cool that your grandfather was a cowboy and you watched westerns with him!
I was a NYC & suburb girl, who only dreamed!I was a western tv show junkie. Saturday mornings...Fury, Rin Tin Tin, Zorro, The Lone Ranger, Broken Arrow, My Friend Flicka, Roy Rogers (I wanted to live with Roy & Dale and have my own horse), Sky King..then the "adult" shows.. Maverick (a fave), Bat Masterson, Paladin (another fave), Bonanza and when a little older, The Virginian. I used to dream of becoming a cowgirl and riding the range! I'd pretend that my bicycle was my trusty steed. giggling here...how very different my real life became.

into surgery, there was a gurney jam. My ex-husband started to sing Rawhide, but instead of doggies rolling, he sang gurneys rolling. I joined in!

14. 'Maverick' beats them all.
Riverboat ring your bell,
Farethewell Annabelle,
Luck is the lady that he loves the best,
Living on jacks and queens,
Heading to New Orleans,
Maverick is a legend of the West.

13. The Olbermann of his time.
Went from gunning for the bad guys to reporting on sports.

Keith took the equally unpredictable route from sports to national political node of sanity.

And yes, I remember the TV show. :)
