2. Not surprised
You know, I heard the mother wanted to give up Caylee for adoption after she was born, but the grandparents wouldn't let her. This could have all been avoided and Caylee could have had parents that wanted her.

Don't force motherhood on people, folks.

7. I know "shoulda woulda coulda" statements are useless at this point....
but I really wish Caylee's mom would have given her up for adoption regardless of what the grandparents wanted. It's extremely upsetting to me when young women in this country don't understand (or don't believe) that they do have options and that the choice is theirs to make.

I have a daughter of my own I can't imagine ever forcing her into motherhood. That's pretty damn twisted.

14. I hadn't heard that. Knowing that she was an unwilling parent, why did
they leave the child with her instead of raising it themselves? This may be a tragic example of forcing motherhood on a young woman.

19. Well, let's not let Casey entirely off the hook, she is a sociopath
But, yeah, I do think adoption would have been the best option here. But the grandparents were so eager to have their grandchild in their lives, they didn't stop to think whether Casey was really suited to motherhood.

27. I don't mean to let Casey off the hook. Just saying that the grandparents
might share a little of the blame for what happened to this child.

I really hope this is Caylee that they have found. If not, that means there are two dead children to investigate.

46. I want to know if Caylee was murdered or killed
There is a big difference. If the latter, then Casey isn't necessarily a sociopath -- accidents do happen, and people get afraid. I personally think that's what happened with Jon Benet Ramsey. If the former, then I hope she never sees the light of day again after her arrest.

55. Not true -- see my answer to your downthread
Cindy Anthony said last night Casey did NOT go out partying, and that the photos showing Casey doing it were staged photos.

Believe me, I call a sociopath a sociopath, but this is all too blurry right now -- who did what and who said what.

The woman convicted of killing her husband the Marine (can't think of her name) -- she DID party after her husband died, and that was a big part of what lead to her conviction. But, there was NO WAY she murdered him. She was innocent.

The whole case of Caylee Anthony is weird.

60. I do agree about the woman accused of murdering her husband
She was innocent.

I think this is a lot like the Scott Peterson case. Yeah, calling his mistress after his wife dissapeared doesn't mean he's guilty, but it sure as hell makes you question his feelings about his wife and what possible motive he could have had.

Casey's seeming indifference (and even if ther partying isn't true, she does seem very apathetic) doesn't mean she's guilty, but if you combine that with a lot of other factors, it looks very damning for her. No mother in her right mind would NOT call the cops if they thought their child had been abducted.

The grandparents could have adopted the child as their own if they wished. I'm not excusing nay crime done to the child, but if someone wants to give up a baby, then let them! They are being honest about having no desire for motherhood.

78. Yeah, the fault for the murder totally lies with the mother.
But at the same time people need to realize that not everyone is cut out for parenthood. The idea that there's this instinct everyone has and that once the child comes along it magically changes you is so pernicious and dangerous and wrong. IMHO so much abuse and misery could be eliminated if it were just considered OKAY to not want to be a parent.

80. Casey Anthony even had someone lined up to adopt her baby after she was born
She was 19, living at home, and either a sociopath or really mentally unbalanced.

I know two women who are college-educated professionals -- they felt forced by their inlaws, parents, and society to have children. They never wanted them. They STILL don't want them, even though one of the "kids" is now in college.

106. There are SOOOO many parents like that out there.
I've seen surveys that show a substantial percentage of parents would NOT have had kids if they had it to do over. Obviously most unhappy parents don't go on to horribly abuse or murder their offspring but therapists offices are filled with adult children who were messed up by parents who didn't want them. People can sense when they are not loved.

104. And factor in seasonal plant growth.
Not as much of an issue in Florida as other parts of the country, but there is still seasonal variability in plant thickness. The previous searches were in spring and summer when brush and grass were at their thickest. It's now mid-December and, because of the cooler temperatures and reduced rainfall, the underbrush has thinned a bit.

30. It's sad when you think of how many people would have LOVED to have this child.
Instead of missing or dead, this child could be in a happy, warm, loving home, and could be the center of attention to her parents.

This is what is so wrong about forcing people to have babies they do not want, and preventing gay people from adopting. Is this child better off now because she wasn't adopted by gays? Is she better off somehow because she was allowed to be born, only to suffer at the hands of a mother who didn't want her? What kind of life is that? And now she may be dead anyway.

Thanks, "conservative Republicans." You are all hypocrites, and the pain and suffering you force upon the world because of your very wrong beliefs needs to come to an end.

Don't me wrong, an abortion is way better than having the child and then killing it a few years later. But, honestly, this Casey woman is a complete nutcase. If she hadn't killed Caylee, she'd have killed someone else. She wasn't some young woman that couldn't take the pressure anymore, she's a sociopath that thought about this in a very cold, calculated manner.

And obviously, I agree adoption (by straight or gay parents) would have been way more preferable.

It's bizarre ... people seem to actually be sympathetic to such despicable creatures, no matter how coddled and spoiled they've been.

Edited on Thu Dec-11-08 01:07 PM by galaxy21
I would say she shouldn't get the death penalty.

But look at everything she's done: It was obviously planned out in a very evil, cold hearted way. She doesn't seem to have any regret whatsoever (she was going partying days after it)and I'm willing to be the only regret she will feel is for herself. And she's spent months acting like butter wouldn't melt.

This is one evil woman.

53. She did NOT go out partying the day after -- those photos were staged
As per Cindy Anthony's interview with Larry King last night.

I don't know what the hell happened in this case. I will say that the grandmother's actions and interviews have been a bit odd, too -- earlier on, it appeared she may be covering for her daughter. I know she and her husband forced her daughter to not put up Caylee for adoption -- and yes, adults can be forced into doing things.

I don't know if Caylee was killed or murdered, or who did what. I just wish the little girl had been put up for adoption.

62. I didn't say that, I said the photos were staged and weren't right after
That was what Cindy Anthony said last night.

And yeah, I think Cindy Anthony's behavior has been very strange: wring dates, wrong objects, forcing Casey to not allow a friend to adopt Caylee -- her behavior has been as strange as Casey's. IMO. I'd love to know the whole story, because I think it's somewhat different than the line fed to us by Nancy Grace. Very, very weird case all together.

49. What a Sad, Horrible, Outrageous Case
This Casey Anthony is so disgusting, so repulsive--she is the very definition of a selfish, self-absorbed murderer with no conscience at all, cruel with no attention paid to the victims, that I actually wish they would seek the death penalty. She is totally unlike all the women who get these extremely harsh sentences, because they finally killed their batterers--she is a true murderer. All the pictures of her partying at bars, etc., after she knew she had murdered the child, all the Google searches, etc., awful, that poor little victim who never stood a chance. There was absolutely no way to excuse this crime, because the grandparents had been telling her to stop this and give the child attention, not take her to these boyfriends' homes where there were drugs, and wanted to legally adopt the child, which would have taken her off the hands of this sickening piece of shit Casey Anthony--the problem could have been solved! She didn't want the child, yet she was not going to let her be happy with grandparents who loved her. Further, she was stealing money from everyone--family, friends--and so had no conscience ever, about anything. God, I hate her. She is evil.

And, she didn't go partying, as per Cindy Anthony last night on Larry King.

I'm quite convinced Casey Anthony did something to her daughter, but I'm still not sure if she murdered or killed her daughter -- and there's evidence her mother was covering for her at the beginning. It's all very strange.

Of course she says the woman didn't go partying - she says lots of shit, doubtlessly for dubious reason all germane to the continuation of her own selfish denial.

What about the Google searches? How to make chloroform? Neck-breaking? Household weapons? What do you make of those?

125. Not that weird. We've raised a child for almost 18 years not that my husbands whore of an ex-wife
swore was his genetic child. In his heart of hearts he knew better, even before the birth, but he was in love with the idea of having a baby so he put that all aside and tried hard to make the whole thing work.

A couple of years after the divorce we met and married. That's when we found out he couldn't have kids. He never could. He was born that way.

We have no idea who the hell is the genetic father of our little (OK, young woman) girl but she is ours. She doesn't know any different, neither do her grandparents or anyone else but my husband, myself, and the lying sack of shit he divorced all those years ago.
