Kaiser Foods has revealed after an internal inquiry that pork liver pâté products suspected of being tainted with dioxin had come from Irish processing companies. National deputy chief veterinarian Lajos Bognár said 22.5 tons of liver pâté that arrived on November 7 and 20.6 tons that arrived on November 19 were processed in 77 tons of goods of which 57 tons were sent to stores. The Hungarian processor immediately had those shipments sequestered and took measures to withdraw the suspected goods from the stores, said Bognár. Kaiser Foods owner Attila Réti said it will be known next Monday whether the liver pâté products contain dioxin above permitted levels.
