LEtting the domestic auto makers go under while it would eliminate the competition for the foreign transplant auto makers in alabama and other southern states would PUT THIS COUNTRY INTO A DEPRESSION. NO BIG DEAL TO YOU SHELBY?

Alabama got $31 billion dollars in Federal aid in 2003. South Carolina got $48 billion in 2006. check post at link:

2. Just like during the Civil War
"The South" has foreign entanglements.

I wish we had let them secede. What was the matter with us? Didn't we believe in our own ideology?

sheesh

Oh well-don't flame me, Southern Liberals--I'm not talking about you.

6. Suggestion: email Reid and your senators and tell them to bring this up to Shelby. Maybe it will

help him to grow some balls!

7. Us?
Don't you think "we" is part of "us?"

Meaning, us Southerners are part of the United States. We only weren't for about five years and that was well before anyone who is on this board today was alive.

10. I didnt say all Alabamians or Southerners agree with what Shelby is doing.
I'm sure many or mabey most do NOT. IF southerners consider themselves as part of the country they should tell Shelby to stop risking a depression with his antics.

are exactly sound enough to survive too much more down turning either.

5. at least shelby is consistent, he also voted against the financial bailout. mcconnel on the other
hand has no consistency

he voted 700 BILLION for the financial bailout, but cannot vote for a 14 billion dollar bridge loan

what a POS

Kentucky should be ashamed of themseleves for reelecting him

8. What that nimrod Shelby doesn't understand is that his car companies

will also go bankrupt without the automotive support the Big 3 provide in parts and equipment. I'm a Southerner and I know that the South won't rise on the backs of poorly paid, non-union, replaceable labor.

Besides, Nissan's sales for the past year are way worse than Ford's.
