LID LIFTED ON CORRUPTION IN OBAMA'S STATE

THE president-elect, Barack Obama, has denied any knowledge of the astonishing web of corruption that has come to light in his home state of Illinois after its governor was arrested and charged with trying to sell the seat he vacated in the US Senate.

Rod Blagojevich, who has the sole right to appoint Mr Obama's replacement to the Senate, was caught on wire taps in his campaign office and on his home phone, plotting ways to get a personal financial benefit from the appointment, including at one stage a cabinet post in Mr Obama's administration.

According to an FBI affidavit, Blagojevich was recorded saying the Senate seat "is a f---ing valuable thing, you just don't give it away for nothing". He was also recorded saying that unless "I get something real good", he would appoint himself to the vacancy.

The same media that for the last eight years couldn't connect any actions by the Bush administration to the Bush White House will suddenly be able to connect dots to the prospective Obama administration that are not only not on the same plane, but not even in the same dimension. They will of course be egged on by frothing-at-the-mouth Republicans who will demand that Obama account for every occurrence on the planet, and then pronounce any statement “insufficient.” The media will obediently report that “questions still linger” about Obama’s possible involvement in the theft of Megan’s candy from her locker at Central Middle School.
