I don't understand why Harry Reid can't force this auto loan through
Doesn't he have ANY leverage on the government money that goes to Alabama or Louisiana? He has simply been ineffective (though I certainly don't think Daschle would have exerted any more muscle). They've got to tell Shelby and Vitter not to hold their breath waiting for committees to move on any funding for their states.

And where are the so-called good Republicans like Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins on this? I did hear that Hagel was willing to help out the auto companies, but I've heard precious few other names.

2. They got it done through the TARP money
There is no need to force it through at the moment. The Democrats got what they wanted

4. Because Reid lets GOPer McConnell lead him around by the nose. What Mitch wants Mitch gets
Nothing happens in the Senate unless Mitch says so. He also doesn't even have to bother filibustering. He whispers the word and Reid is in the corner cowering.

Reid just spends all his time whining saying I don't have the votes. As if who is to blame for that? Nobody but Reid, that's his job.

15. Pretty much.
It's a shame Hillary never got a shot at majority leader.

I doubt she would be as timid.

7. Well I agree with that
He (and Pelosi, for that matter) never acted like they wanted it to go through at all.

11. He also forced Mitch the Bitch to go on record
...as anti-Big-Three-Bailout, as obviously wanting to bust the union, as being for Wall Street but against Woodward Avenue.

This'll hurt the Reeps in the next session, when they try to mooch contributions from industrial concerns OR unions. Harry done good.

8. For what you are asking...
...Reid would require a spine. He is a worthless, cowardly invertebrate and I hope to one day see him leave D.C. in shame, the fucking prick!
