Another possible Obama appointment that I like: Ron Kirk for US trade representative

Former Dallas Mayor Ron Kirk, thought to be a contender for Transportation Secretary, could end up as the next United States Trade Representative.

Sources say Mr. Kirk would love to become Trade chief, a job that would have him negotiating trade issues on behalf of the United States with foreign countries. The office has about 200 employees.

Mr. Kirk has declined to comment on his prospects with the new administration, but conceded that he was being vetted for a potential job by President-elect Barack Obama's transition team.

Stay tuned. A decision could come early this week.
