Presidential protection not so good - shoe tosser could have gotten 4 shoes off before they reacted

Watching the video I'm amazed at how long it takes secret service to react. If the guy had two more shoes (or any other items to throw) he could have gotten off about 4 tosses. Anyone disagree or agree?

1. Agree, I was just watching the video. First thing that caught my eye.
He's up there with Maliki trying to deflect the second shoe.

3. For all the sunglass wearing secret service, Bush was left to protect himself for a few seconds.

21. Still figure this was a staged event for two reasons.
One. bush isnt going to anyplace that any dissenters can possibly get into. they wont even allow any nonrepukes into his parades in the states so you think that they will allow any dissenters in another country anyplace near him in iraq or another country.

Two. the secret service acted once again like bush was in no danger. last time was on nine eleven.

12. Damn.
Bush is quick--ducked the first one, then the second one went high or it would've nailed him. With any luck, this'll become kind of a tradition in the media--when Bush takes the podium, out come the shoes.

16. Maybe that explains a few things like all the bruises on his face that show up now and then.
Maybe ducking the missiles Laura launches at him while he's drinking could explain the quick response. He's used to dodging flying objects.

10. Precisely. I am still amazed folks could throw eggs at his motorcade on his inauguration.
Some heads are gonna roll again at Secret Service.

11. I counted about 6 seconds between 1st shoe toss until a secret service looking guy reaches him
But I can't tell if some secret service reach him from the back of the room.

13. Even after they "reached him", they didn't stand in front of him or put him on the ground or whisk
him away.. WTF?!

17. U are right! That's what is bugging me but I didn't realize til you mentioned it.
I would have thought the protocol would have been to knock bush to the ground behind the podium. Apparently not.

Those dudes didn't show a whole lot of hustle.

Is the 1st team is now with the President-elect?

20. I remember that in the 2001 Inauguration.
At the 2005 coronation, the one that I attended, not even 5 layers of police a mile long could stop a snowball from hitting Cheney's limo. You should have SEEN those cops scramble when that happened!
