U.S. President George W. Bush speaks during a joint news conference in Baghdad December 14, 2008. Bush made a farewell visit to Baghdad on Sunday, flying in secret out of Washington to declare that while great strides have been taken toward peace, "the war is not over". In a sign of lingering anger over the war that will define the Republican president's foreign policy legacy, an Iraqi journalist shouted "this is a goodbye kiss from the Iraqi people, dog," and hurled his shoes at Bush during a news conference with Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki.

4. Bush press conference
Does this mean that everyone has to have their shoes inspected before all press conferences?
Be afraid. Always be afraid. Where were the weapons inspectors?

The best she could do would be a muffled giggle coming from her wired shut jaw.

19. Shoes for industry! Shoes for the dead!
Shoes for industry!

Hi! I'm Joe Beets.

Say, what chance does a deceased returning war veteran have for that good payin' job, more sugar, and that free Mule we've all been dreaming of?

Well? Think it over.

Now take off your shoes.

Now you can see how increased spending opportunities, mean harder work for everyone, and more of it, too!

So, do yourself a favor, Joe. Join with millions of your friends and neighbors, and, TAKE OFF YOUR SHOES!

"For INDUSTRY!"

Hi, Stephanie! Best new use for a shoe in a long time. It's like Tlön intrudes more and more on the world every day.

24. This has been the question in my head all afternoon
Where was the Secret Service? How did that guy get a second shoe in the air? I'm not asking because it is Bush the shoe was thrown to, but because I'm surprised they were not quick enough to jump in front of him. Isn't that their job?

I hope Obama's team is faster on the uptake!

:kick:
