How about a "Shoe-In" for inauguration eve?
There are going to be three-plus million in DC for the inaugural. How cool it would be if they would all go to the Blight House on the day before and each leave a shoe outside the fence. Don't throw it -- just place it on the sidewalk, like people did with all the tributes of Princess Di outside Buckingham Palace.

What a visual that would be -- millions of shoes piled up, giving * the boot.

Those who aren't going to DC could go down to their local GOP headquarters and leave them on the sidewalk there -- or to the local office of their GOP congresscritter. I think it would be a fantastic non-violent protest.

And don't leave a pair of shoes -- otherwise you'll just encourage people to take them. Use the rattiest, nastiest shoes you have. You know you all have at least one pair that's fit only for the trash.

2. It might be hard to get something like this going because
people will be focused on Obama rather than Bush and it will be a very positive thing, a celebration. I don't know how much people will want to protest at that time.

I like the idea of sending shoes and I LOVE your idea of tge kind of very visual impact that we wouldn't get sending them by mail. Hm. I must admit I'm at a loss for how to get that visual impact when sending them by mail unless there's a local organization willing to take delivery.

3. This is why I don't like it...
1. We should be focused on the future. We can finally celebrate a new face in the white house so why should we put any effort into antagonizing Bush...it makes us appear more interested in him than in our victory.

2. Bush won't care.

3. it shows we had the energy to do something positive, but instead we did something stupid. Those shoes will get thrown away (by someone other than Bush). Why not give those shoes to GoodWill or to another charity that will do something with it besides put it in a landfill? Many people around the world could use shoes, but instead of giving it to them we are going to leave them outside the whitehouse???
