And why not another reporter?

I wonder if Muthathar al Zaidi, a journalist with al-Bagdadiyahttp://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/7782422.stm">BBC knew the reporter who was detained in 2007?

Iraqi security forces on Tuesday morning arrested the reporter from al-Baghdadiya satellite television in the city of Diwaniyah, the Journalistic Freedoms Observatory (JFO) said.

(...)

The JFO held the Iraqi government and the interior ministry responsible for the reporter's safety, demanding them to immediately release him.

The Journalistic Freedoms Observatory is non-governmental organization formed of Iraqi journalists to monitor violations and aggression against media workers.

Diwaniyah is the capital city of Qadissiyah province in central southern Iraq, and lies 80 km south of Baghdad.

4. No, but if you go back....
to around 10;30 or so (PST) on DU, you might find it. The issue is in the subject line.

I do know that I saw it after 11AM, my time (PST), but it could have been posted earlier.

6. Also, a producer from his TV station was killed in Iraq

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1208/16566.html

Journalists at the scene said the hurler was Muntadar al-Zaidi, a reporter for Al-Baghdadia TV, an independent satellite channel based in Cairo.

A producer for the channel was murdered in Baghdad last year.

8. So he may have known someone detained by the U.S. and someone else who was killed.
I wish that Politico could provide a little more info!

What a bunch of teases!
