I got tears in my eyes, because it was reminiscent of September 11, 2001, when he was so cool in that classroom with the kids as Americans were being roasted and pulverized and traumatized in NYC, DC, and Shanksville.
I get a lump in my throat, remembering how calm he stayed during Hurricane Katrina. I think this was probably his finest hour, when he walked the walk of his deep faith knowing that God wouldn't let those people drown, and if he did, there was a purpose to it, and that He welcomed them all into Heaven, which is a better place -- than floating dead upside down in the flood waters of America's city NOLA.
The press has been inspired by his example, and remain resolute in their support for him, even as he has killed (insert very large number of people here) in Iraq, and wrecked the global economy, which will impact most of the people on the planet -- see how generous he is? -- and reduce the USA to brother can you spare a dime (is it on iTunes?), just like the parents of we Boomers grew up hearing about.
Young people -- take heart. As the right wing pundits tell us, the Greatest Generation's mettle was forged in the Great Depression, so just trust that you will emerge from this one great too.
Bush is right -- eventually, his contribution to history will be seen differently. If the current generation of young people can survive the mess he left behind, y'all are going to magical powers or something, and it will be totally amazing. Songs will be sung about him, and his picture will be on everyone's iPod.
I'm not going to live to see it, because I've always been thin and can't compete with the morbidly obese for long term survival. Who'da thunk? </sarcasm>
