Today my husband became an American Citizen

We just returned from the ceremony. My husband is now a Dual Citizen of the Netherlands and the United States!

Netherlands! My parents stayed in Holland (Den Hague) for several years, and they both loved it, as did all of their offspring on visits! I still long for the tulips! I have so many Dutch mementos (Delft China and the like) ...and lots of photos of the gorgeous tulips.

My Grandpa, who jumped ship and joined the American Army to fight in France during WWI thanks him. My Uncle Tim, who fought as a WWII Army Air Corps Navigator on a B-17 thanks him. My Uncle Frank who fought as a member of the US Marine Corps at Iwo Jima thanks him, and I, who never fought in any war but opposed the war in Viet Nam and now the savage and nonsensical war in Iraq thank him and ask him to consider that true American patriotism does not necessarily include service in wartime armed forces units. It does include a true dedication to the principles of justice and liberty for all.
