Bush waved off his lead SS agent from extracting him from the room
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1208/16566.html

Bush was cool under fire and prevented an even bigger incident by waving off his lead Secret Service agent, who was prepared to extract him from the room.

Video shows the president's lead agent rushing to the podium, but the president immediately and subtly motions to him that it's OK. The agent backs off.

-----------

Myers reported that the man threw the second shoe and added: "This is from the widows, the orphans and those who were killed in Iraq."

2. Resigned is the word. Bush is resigned to his fate
History will see the throwing of the shoes as the defining statement about the Bush administration. That journalist said it all. It would never occur to me to throw something at anyone, but somehow after that guy did it, it seemed strangely appropriate. I am very sorry to have to say that. But Bush has caused so much suffering. We haven't even felt the worst of it yet.

4. I expect that was but the first of numerous shoes that will be tossed his way

...over the course of his lifetime. I don't think he has given sufficient thought as to what his life will be like when he is no longer the president; when he is less sheltered from the reality he has created, and people have more opportunities to express their contempt to him directly.
