Please join CODE PINK: Women for Peace, AfterDowningStreet, and Democrats.com this Wednesday, December 17, 2008, in Washington, D.C., at Lafayette Square Park in front of the White House. We will have with us a large supply of shoes labeled with the names of Iraqis who have died in Bush’s war. We encourage you to bring your old shoes as well. Come rally with us in solidarity with the Iraqi people to demand an immediate and complete end to the occupation of Iraq.

I was envisioning lining the route Bush will be leaving the White House on Inauguration Day with shoes as well, preferably mounted on a stick in a position that makes it look like he's getting a boot on the ass. Or, how about signs on the route saying "Buh bye" with a boot kicking him out?

because they cannot be sold. I used to volunteer at a non-profit thrift store and we had to toss the majority of those items.

17. Well gosh, I applaud activists who figure out how to get into meetings and

peacefully shout and show their pink shirts. I applaud people who draw attention to themselves when they hold no violent intentions and are very purposeful. I applaud these people who travel the country to let all of us know they're on our peaceful, not aggressive, but assertive missions. I think them for doing this for us. I applaud their bravery for getting arrested for some pretty lame reasons and having that on their record which could mean death if we proceed down the road that Cheney is taking us.

The greatest per cent of people in this nation are obedient, submissive, and distracted by sports, shopping, serial shows on tv, and sermons from their reverends every which way they turn.

23. During the late 19th and early 20th centuries,

the Suffragettes were routinely ridiculed, described as an embarrassment to women in general, were harassed by the police, fired from dead-end typing jobs for their activism, but they finally got us the vote. Then, in the late 1960s and 1970s the feminists were ridiculed, called man-haters, bra-burners. I remember this well because I got the same treatment, but women have rights and opportunities now their mothers could only dream of. Things are not perfect yet, by any means, but they're hell of a lot better than they were in the fifties. thanks to these "embarrassing" women.
