Wis. lawmaker arrest on alcohol, marijuana charges
Wis. lawmaker arrest on alcohol, marijuana charges
Published: 12/15/08, 3:45 PM EDT

MADISON, Wis. (AP) - A Wisconsin lawmaker has been arrested on charges of drunken driving and possession of marijuana.

State Rep. Jeffrey Wood apologized Monday for acting irresponsibly, saying there was "no excuse for my actions."

The Wisconsin State Patrol did not release details on what led to Wood's arrest early Friday in south-central Wisconsin, far from the northwestern district he represents.

District Attorney Jane Kohlwey said she had not yet filed charges against Wood and was waiting for police reports.

He also told the station how marijuana ended up in his car: "Somebody offered me some and I took it, and for whatever stupid reason got in my car and decided to drive home."

Jeffrey Wood is a former republican that quit the GOP earlier this year and was re-elected to the Wisconsin Assembly as an Independent.

My advice to Jeffrey Wood is this: cut the fucking bullshit excuses and start understanding how draconian the marijuana laws are.. and start pushing for legalization. I personally don't give a damn that you smoke weed, Mr. Wood, just like I don't care *who* smokes weed. It would probably do the world a lot of good to have some more pot smokers in our government.. use this experience wisely, Mr. Wood....

Peace,

Ghost

10. Yes, driving under the influence of alcohol is very stupid...
but let's face it... when it comes to the marijuana, "someone gave it to me and I took it" is about as stupid as "but I didn't inhale!"... it's bullshit lies, plain and simple.

4. There was a guy on the radio who had an interesting proposal for legalizing drugs.
Make all drugs legal and provided for free by the government... BUT...

... you would have to get high at a government facility, and remain there for the duration of your intoxication... while participating in an educational program of some type.

8. Gee, a high functioning pot head...
Frankly I don't give a damn. Too bad he drove drunk! Hmm, someone gave it to him? A setup perhaps, a little mickey and then slip some stash in his pocket? Oh that could never, ever, ever, happen. If he was a stoner, then he really screwed up.
