Waddya think? Over the top or proper response? Warning Graphic!
Edited on Tue Dec-16-08 04:07 PM by walldude
So a fundie relative sends me this article:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25546334/

Claims it's proof positive Bush was right and Saddam had WMD's. Now never mind the fact that the article clearly states that the yellowcake couldn't be made even into a "dirty bomb" and was sold to Canada by Iraq. According to this fundie this is proof positive Bush was right. (I didn't bother to ask why she is using this article from JULY to make her case :eyes:

So I sent this back to her:

Waddya think? Over the top?

1. Wow!. Sad sad pictures. But no, you were NOT over the top
fundies, repubs sometimes need to be reminded of what they supported and still support. Get them where they supposedly care the most about.

3. not over the top. but I would use it as the exclamation point
after I debunked her bullshit about it proving Bu$h was right.

4. Not over the top at all, but I am constantly confused
by people who "believe" stuff who spend so much time and effort trying to "prove" their point as your relative did. I guess she must think you are smart.

7. I was actually being kind, I have some shots that
I can't even bear to look at. I almost sent a few of them but that would have meant me having to look at them as well and this was all I could take.

9. Apparently she can't read. The article clearly states that all of it was pre-1991.
"Israeli warplanes bombed a reactor project at the site in 1981. Later, U.N. inspectors documented and safeguarded the yellowcake, which had been stored in aging drums and containers since before the 1991 Gulf War. There was no evidence of any yellowcake dating from after 1991, the official said."

What does she think would be left from the bombing of a nuclear reactor?

There's one owned by the University of Arkansas south of here. The projected cleanup cost is $16 million. It's been sitting here since 1972. The US government helped to build it and refused to dismantle and clean it up until 2008.

10. OMG...
Quite the perfect way to shut a fundie up. I bet she's never seen anything like those pictures. I don't think there's an argument to justify the pain those children have felt. Oh, there will be WMD's in Iraq to threaten the U.S. - when those kids get older. It will probably take more than a generation for the scars we've caused to heal.

11. Some people really need a hard slap in the face to wake them up.
That appears to be what your fundie relative needs.

15. My first thought, also, the pictoral equivalent of a 2 X 4 upside
the head.

To the OP, I don't think it's over the top. When I've shown people pictures of the carnage in Iraq, they cringe and some have changed their minds. These are images that are being hidden from the American public along with the images of wounded military personnel and flag draped coffins. A few years ago, I made a sign of the before-mentioned images - printed them out and cut them and put them on poster board - for a local peace march. The media covering the event were fixated on that sign and I stuck it in the faces of some counter protesters.

12. WE, the US, sold Saddam those WMDS!!
These are the pictures of Kurds, and other minority Iraqis, that Saddam whacked with chemical weapons and bacteriological weapons we gave him during the Iran-Contra scandals under the administration of Ronny Raygun!

14. Right on! Well done. k&r
I consider this response both appropriate and warranted.

I am deeply ashamed by what has been done in my name, and the fundies should be too.
