Poll question: The Most Important Issue for the 2008 Presidential Race Will Be:
I mean in which issue(s) will be most important POLITICALLY in determining the winner, rather than which issue(s) you personally feel to be the most important, which may not coincide.

I realize that many of these issues have considerable overlap.

My personal feeling is that since Bush has clearly made the choice to "run out the clock" and insure to the best of his ability that the Iraq occupation continues through the end of his administration, that he's determined by default that Iraq will be the number one issue.

Whether the Democratic Party chooses the best nominee and campaign/platform for this scenario will remain to be seen.

2. Depends . . .
. . . given another weather event with the impact or near the impact of Katrina, and it'll be global warming. Without that, Iraq.

6. 2006 exit polls said Corruption and Iraq were the two biggest issues for them.

So expect Democratic elite to put up a candidate from the coverup wing of the party. They need protection, too, from the anti-corruption, open government wing of the Democratic party.

7. Who has been a leader for We the People?
Who has defended our Constitution?

I so want Iraq to be OVER before the 2008 election. This is such bullshit. We wanted it over in 2004. We wanted it over before it started!

10. Not Iraq. By next year there will be an anti-war consensus on Iraq (slow pull out, big error)
I think we should try to make it an issue as the Republican nominee will probably be a latecomer to that consensus, but 18 months from now everyone will agree that the pull out (already started by then) is going too slow and that the war was a horrid mistake.

National security will be a big issue, but I think healthcare, affordably covering the millions of uninsured, will be the breakout issue.
