Who Created "Hillary 1984"? Mystery Solved!
"Well, today I can end the guessing. Last night, we sent out a challenge
to the HuffPost team asking them to hit the phones and contact all their sources.
As a result, we have learned the video was the work of Philip de Vellis,
who was the Internet communications director for Sherrod Brown's 2006 Senate campaign,
and who now works at Blue State Digital, a company created by members of Howard Dean's Internet Team.">>>snip

2. It has ties to Howard Dean?
Edited on Wed Mar-21-07 06:04 PM by rocknation
I thought the DNC was supposed to be neutral--the DLC, (not to mention GOP) could turn this into a problem for him.

Nonethess, the commerical did a terrific of showcasing Hillary's scripted-ness in the nicest possible way.

3. Did you read the article?
It was done from my understanding independent of any direction.

I think it is conjecture on her part at this time.
but I always thought it came from the left not the right.
It was too damn clever for one thing

At least the mystery is slowly unraveling

8. Tell it to the DLC and GOP, LOL!

To them, "a company created by members of Howard Dean's Internet Team" more than qualifies as a "link" or "tie." Terrorism suspects have been held indefinitely without charges and tortured for less.

13. Then that's what the article should have said.
Edited on Wed Mar-21-07 06:37 PM by rocknation
It sounds like it was done BY Blue State Media FOR Obama rather than by one of its employees on a lark. Now it turns out that Obama is a BSD client, which throws his campgain's denial of the spot into question. See how much harm a little bad journalism can do?

4. Why am I not surprised that this is loosely associated with Deaniacs?
Edited on Wed Mar-21-07 05:52 PM by LoZoccolo
Let's see:

- The candidate did not authorize it.
- Someone thought they'd just go hijack someone else's campaign with their own message.
- The message runs counter to what the candidate is actually doing (negative vs. positive campaigning) and thus actually detracts from them.

Oh yeah, that's why!

"Mystery solved. But what this post is missing is the fact that the Barack Obama campaign is a client of Blue State Digital. BSD does their website.

14. Keith Olbermann just said that the guy has been FIRED!
and rightfully so, for the reasons I gave. He came up with an excellent idea, but as a employee of the business that is working with Obama, he should have considered the consequences.

19. Was Obama cluless or lying about it?
He said that he was sure his campaign 'didn't have the ability to proudce something like that!', either he's lying or he's clueless about his own campaign. Hello??? You HIRED the FOUNDER of the MEDIA company that the guy worked for. I've been having bad feelings about Obama lately, and wonder if his campaign is really going the dirty route, cuz it sure seems like it.

Sad, because you can have a good candidate, but if the people around him make mistake after mistake, it can doom the candidacy.

I think Obama is really interesting, and would consider supporting him. HOwever, I have an issue with the rock star treatment he's getting, when most of the people I talk to that support him don't seem to know what he stands for. Is it that you get the big popularity first, then explain to the fans what you stand for? Perhaps...

23. I don't think it was either
This guy happened to work for that company. He did something without the approval of the company or the client (Obama).

Obama's campaign didn't have anything to do with the ad.

25. huh?
I read the companies statement about the firing. The guy obviously did it on his own time without the knowledge of the Obama campaign. Thus, he is neither clueless nor lying.

Obama has given people plenty of opportunities to know what he stands for, including a recent book. If people don't know then it is because of their own lack of effort to learn, not Obama's lack of effort to tell them. He has a long history of political activity that anyone is free to examine.
